SIDIS is the tester for more than 800 types of cars made by no less than 34 car manufacturers. A tablet computer, specifically designed for industrial use is used to easily load diagnostic data and to trace any problems in the wiring. SIDIS has become indispensable in the workshop. But what if the 'tester' does not test adequately? This would cause a very serious problem. Ultra-X was tasked with developing a self-test for SIDIS by Siemens Automotive. A test for the tester.
 
Solution
Ultra-X developed a self-test for the SIDIS pad. Every car company which uses SIDIS is now capable of creating a self-diagnosis. The self-test is integrated in the BIOS of the system, which means it is even able to diagnose when the SIDIS pad no longer starts up to the operating system.

Results
The self tester for SIDIS has delivered the following results for Siemens:

• A minimisation of unnecessary RMA return shipments;
• Almost all faults are resolved by 1st line technical support;
• Increase in trust from customers in the SIDIS solution and the Siemens organisation;
• No unnecessary shipments of faulty products;
• The development of service opportunities outside the guarantee;

In other words: less support, better service, less costs, better returns.
