Ready for a new start

Every day, an enormous number of 'outdated' computers are released. A large percentage of those is suitable to be re-used. However, before they start their second life, it must first become clear what state they are in, and whether there is any data on the hard disks. Every computer is processed in accordance with different methods. A cumbersome process, which leads to many different test results. A large player on the market of ‘refurbishment’ and ‘life cycle management’ thought the time had come for an improvement in this respect, with the aim of creating a standard, and more effective work process.

Solution
Ultra-X developed an all-round solution which means 300 computers are inspected at the same time, and checked for various aspect. The first step is to ensure that everything is guaranteed to have been deleted 100%. This must be done in accordance with the international standards. The hardware is then automatically checked, for both functionality and stability. A delivery report follows at the end of the process, for each computer, which clearly states the system configuration and the results.

Results
The integration and standardisation of this process has delivered the following results:

  • Quicker processing time and re-use
  • Less actions required thanks to computerisation
  • Certificate with delete and test results saved on a central database
  • Tested and deleted, 100% guaranteed, in accordance with government standards
  • Cost and time saving on software licences

In other words, an efficient and effective solution. The client makes drastic savings on both operational and financial costs. And the average operational service of a 'second life' computer is accelerated by 60%.
